Al-Ahli Jeddah captain Mohammad Massad scored from 100 yards out during a Saudi League match recently, which is more than sufficient excuse to take a look at some other blinding strikes from distance. Spectacular longest goal from the Saudi Professional League, scored by team captain and Saudi international Mohammad Massad of Al-Ahli Jeddah from 80 meters out.

The Longest Trains in the World
The train from Nouadhibou to Zouerat is the longest train in the world. The iron ore train carry thousands of tons of crusehed rock in a chain of wagons up to three kilometres long. Their schecules and frequencies depend partly on the speed of the extraction at the mines, and even in the past, attacks by Polisario guerillas from over the border in Western Sahara.
As the longest train in the world there are 3 or 4 diesel-electric General Motors 3300V locomotives at the head of the train and about 200 cars each carrying up to 84 tons of iron ore, and a variable number of service cars. The total traffic averages 16.6 billion tons per year.
The Longest Nail in the World
Redmond’s nails hadn’t been cut since 1979. The Salt Lake City, Utah resident was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, which claimed her nails measured a total of more than 28 feet long in 2008. The longest nail – on her right thumb – was a sickening 2 feet, 11 inches.
Mrs Redmond, who once turned down £60,000 to have them clipped on live TV, has now lost her claim to fame. In 2006 she said she was ready to cut her nails so she could care for her husband, who suffers from Alzheimer’s. However she changed her mind, insisting that the nails did not interfere with her husband’s care – indeed, that they did not impact her daily life much at all. She did have to care for the nails daily, soaking them in olive oil and cleaning them with a toothbrush.

Novel is a book of long narrative in literary prose. The genre has historical roots both in the fields of the medieval and early modern romance and in the tradition of the novella. The latter supplied the present generic term in the late 18th century. The fictional narrative, the novel’s distinct “literary” prose, specific media requirements (the use of paper and print), a characteristic subject matter that creates both intimacy and a typical epic depth can be seen as features that developed with the Western (and modern) market of fiction. Below is list about longest novel books in the world.
10. Infinite Jest – David Foster Wallace: 484,001 words
David Foster Wallace may have been the most critically acclaimed novelist of the modern era. His novels, The Broom of the System and Infinite Jest, were both highly acclaimed by literary critics. Infinite Jest was even named one of the best 100 novels from 1923 through present day by Time Magazine. Wallace committed suicide in 2008, at the age of 46, leaving an incomplete novel behind. However, the publishing company responsible for his first two novels announced that it will release the unfinished manuscript sometime in 2010.
9. Gai-Jin – James Clavell: 487,700 words
In addition to being a successful novelist, James Clavell was also an immensely talented screenwriter – he was the mind behind The Great Escape and To Sir, With Love. He only began to pen novels during a writer’s strike in Hollywood, when his wife recommended that he spend his time recording his experiences as a prisoner of war in Japan during World War II. Clavell’s written memories became his first novel, King Rat. He continued to write about Japan, and other areas of Asia, in his subsequent novels, including Gai-Jin.
8. Remembrance Rock – Carl Sandburg: 532,030 words
Carl Sandburg won two Pulitzer Prizes during his lifetime, one for a biography of Abraham Lincoln, and the other for a book of poetry. Remembrance Rock was Sandburg’s only novel, and it clearly meant a lot to him, personally. Upon his death in 1967, Sandburg’s ashes were placed beneath a red granite boulder named Remembrance Rock.
7. Atlas Shrugged – Ayn Rand: 565,223 words
In Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand presented her philosophy of Objectivism, which maintains that reason is the only way for man to gain knowledge. Rand was a champion of laissez-faire capitalism, likely in part due to her negative experience with communism in her homeland of Russia.
6. A Suitable Boy – Vikram Seth: 593,674
Vikram Seth was born in India and was educated in the United States, The United Kingdom and China. His international life is reflected in his literary works, which are set in the United States, England and India. He has also written a travel guide to China.
5. Miss MacIntosh, My Darling – Marguerite Young: 700,000 words
While Miss MacIntosh, My Darling met with some acclaim, Marguerite Young’s earlier work, Angel in the Forest: A Fairy Tale of Two Utopias, won multiple literary awards. It was a study of the foundation of New Harmony, Indiana, a utopian commune where Young lived for seven years.
4. Poor Fellow My Country – Xavier Herbert: 850,000 words
This novel is also, unfortunately, out of print, although used copies seem to be available on amazon.com and eBay. Poor Fellow My Country is the only Australian novel to appear on this list. While Xavier Herbert was a controversial figure, both by todays and his own time’s standards, he was known for being a champion for the Australian Aboriginal people; this commitment appears in Poor Fellow My Country.
3. Clarissa – Samuel Richardson: 969,000 words
The word count of 969,000 words is true for the first edition of Clarissa, but later editions seem to have climbed to above 1,000,000 words. However, it was not possible to find an estimate more accurate than “above 1,000,000 words” for these later editions. However, even when using the lower number of the first edition, Clarissa still easily comes in third on this list. Though Clarissa is well-known for its length, it is also noted for being an example of an epistolary narrative.
2. Sironia, Texas – Madison Cooper: 1,100,000 words
Unfortunately, this novel is out of print and rather difficult to come by. The novel’s setting, the town of Sironia, is based on the author’s hometown of Waco, Texas. The extent to which the book is autobiographical is not known, as Cooper had all of his files destroyed, though a few of the characters from his work have been identified with their likely counterparts in real life.
1. Mission Earth – L. Ron Hubbard: 1.2 million words
Some people might argue that Mission Earth is, in fact, a series of novels, and should be excluded from this list, but it appears that it was the author’s intent for the work to be a single novel, published in ten volumes. Despite being authored by L. Ron Hubbard, this longest novel book in fact has little to do with Scientologist beliefs, though, like the Scientologist mythology, Mission Earth’s plot is based on an alien race coming to Earth and the chaos that ensues.

It took Robin Hendrickson and Erik Brandsness a few years to realize their cat, Stewie, was longer than most – and now they can say he’s the longest cat in the world.
Stewie measures 48 ½-inches from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail, and just nipped past the previous record-holder, a cat measuring just 48-inches. In all it’s more than four feet long (1.16metres).
The previous record was held by a 48-inch moggy.
The owners of Stewie, Robin Hendrickson and Erik Brandsness of Reno, Nevada, said they decided to try for the record after hearing numerous people say they were amazed by his length.
Stewie is of the Maine Coon variety – known as ‘the gentle giants’ of the longest cat world.
The Longest EarthQuake Ever Recorded
Dramatic new data from the December 26, 2004, Sumatran-Andaman longest earthquake that generated deadly tsunamis show the event created the longest fault rupture and the longest duration of faulting ever observed, according to three reports by an international group of seismologists published Thursday in the journal “Science.”
“Normally, a small earthquake might last less than a second; a moderate sized earthquake might last a few seconds. This earthquake lasted between 500 and 600 seconds,” said Charles Ammon, associate professor of geosciences at Penn State University
The quake released an amount of energy equal to a 100 gigaton bomb, according to Roger Bilham, professor of geological sciences at the University of Colorado.
And that power lasted longer than any quake ever recorded.
The quake, centered in the Indian Ocean, also created the biggest gash in the Earth’s seabed ever observed, nearly 800 miles. That’s as long as a drive from Los Angeles, California, to Portland, Oregon.
This quake released an amount of energy equal to a 100 gigaton bomb, according to Roger Bilham, professor of geological sciences at the University of Colorado. And that power lasted longer than any quake ever recorded. “No point on Earth remained undisturbed,” said Bilham.
The longest earthquakewas centered in the Indian Ocean, and it created the biggest gash in the Earth’s seabed ever observed. It measured nearly 800 miles, about the distance from northern California to southern Canada. Scientists have upgraded the magnitude of the quake from 9.0 to around 9.1-9.3, which is a dramatically more powerful quake.
“Two hours after the earthquake has occurred, the wave is spreading out from the Bay of Bengal,” Thorne Lay, professor of earth sciences and director of the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics at the University of California, Santa Cruz said. “Two satellites went over, with the capability of measuring the elevation of the ocean surface. This longest earthquake was just good luck that the passage of the satellites caught the tsunami in motion. There will be more earthquakes of this type, and with more humans exposed to the hazard there will be more devastating losses of life. What we hope to do is develop technologies that can minimize that loss.”.
Top 10 Longest Flights in the World
A non-stop flight, especially in the aviation industry, refers to any flight by an aircraft which does not involve any intermediate stops. City pairs may be served using different routings on the return journey, which may therefore involve different route length and journey times. longest flights, longest flightTop 10 Longest Living People in the World
This is a list of of the verified longest living people in the world in ordinal rank, such as oldest person or oldest man. In these tables, a supercentenarian is considered ‘verified’ if his or her claim has been validated by an international body that specifically deals in longevity research, such as the Gerontology Research Group or Guinness World Records.
10. Maggie Barnes - 115 years, 319 days
Maggie Pauline Barnes née Hinnant (6 March 1882 – 19 January 1998) was an American supercentenarian. She was a resident of Johnston County, North Carolina. Barnes died from complications following a minor foot infection. Barnes, who was born to a slave and married a tenant farmer, was survived by four children; 11 of her children preceded her in death. Some dispute exists as to her date of birth. Though the family Bible gives the 1882 date, she is listed as having been born in 1881 by the 1900 US Census, and she is listed as having been born in 1880 on her marriage license. Authenticating to the latter of those dates, Barnes was 115 years, 319 days old when she died.
9. Kamato Hongo – 116 years, 45 days
Kamato Hongo (September 16, 1887 – October 31, 2003) was a Japanese supercentenarian and apparently the world’s oldest recognized living person from March 2002 until her death. Aged 116 years 45 days at the time of her death, she was the last remaining documented person born before 1889.
8. Carrie C. White - 116 years, 88 days
Carrie C. White, née Joyner (18 November 1874? – 14 February 1991), was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest person in the world around the time she celebrated her alleged 114th birthday in 1988. She held that title until her death in 1991, supposedly at the age of 116. However, her date of birth is disputed.
7. Elizabeth “Lizzie” Bolden – 116 years, 118 days
Elizabeth “Lizzie” Bolden (August 15, 1890 – December 11, 2006) was an American supercentenarian woman who, at the time of her death at age 116 years and 118 days, was recognized by Guinness World Records as the then world’s oldest living person. She was the last remaining documented person born in 1890. Bolden was the seventh recorded person to reach age 116 without dispute, and the most recent person to do so.
6. Tane Ikai – 116 years, 175 days
Tane Ikai (January 18, 1879 – July 12, 1995) holds the record as the oldest undisputed person ever from Japan. She was also the oldest undisputed person ever from Asia. Ikai became Japan’s oldest person at age 113 in 1992 following the death of 114-year-old Waka Shirahama. She outlived her daughter and three sons. Ikai moved to a retirement home in 1972 at age 93 and enjoyed sewing and pottery making until she suffered a stroke at 99. She suffered from another stroke at age 113 and had been bed-ridden since. She had three meals of a rice porridge (known as “okayu”) a day. She died at age 116 years, 175 days (see List of the world’s oldest people) of kidney failure in Nagoya. Her body was the first of a supercentenarian known to be autopsied.
5. María Capovilla - 116 years, 347 days
María Esther Heredia de Capovilla ( 14 September 1889 – 27 August 2006) was an Ecuadorian supercentenarian, and, at the time of her death at age 116 years 347 days, was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest living person. She was the last remaining person born in the 1880s. Capovilla is the oldest person ever of South America – in fact of the whole southern hemisphere – and is one of only seven people who have lived to age 116 without question. Furthermore, she is the oldest person born in the 19th century to have lived into the 21st century, and historically the oldest person ever to have lived in three different centuries. Capovilla is also the oldest person from a developing country.
4. Marie-Louise Fébronie Meilleur - 117 years, 230 days
Marie-Louise Fébronie Meilleur (née Chassé; August 29, 1880 – April 16, 1998) was a French Canadian supercentenarian who, upon the death of Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment, became the oldest recognized living person. Meilleur is still the oldest validated Canadian ever.
3. Lucy Hannah - 117 years, 248 days
Lucy Hannah née Terrell (July 16, 1875 – March 21, 1993) was an American supercentenarian. Hannah is the third-oldest person ever and the oldest black person ever, as well as the oldest living American at the time of her death. She is also the oldest person never to have been the oldest living person, since she lived at the same time as Jeanne Calment, the oldest person ever to live.
2. Sarah DeRemer Knauss - 119 years, 97 days
Sarah DeRemer Knauss (September 24, 1880 – December 30, 1999) was an American supercentenarian considered the world’s oldest living person by Guinness World Records from April 16, 1998, the date of the death of 117-year-old Canadian Marie-Louise Meilleur, until her own death. At age 117, she also set the record for the world’s oldest “new” title-holder (which corresponds to the highest “valley” on a graph of the oldest living persons over time). Knauss is the second-oldest fully documented person ever, behind Jeanne Calment. She was the last verified living person to have been born before 1885, and the most recent person to reach age 117.
1. Jeanne Louise Calment - 122 years, 164 days
Jeanne Louise Calment (21 February 1875 – 4 August 1997) had the longest living person confirmed human life span in history, living to the age of 122 years, 164 days. She lived in Arles, France, for her entire life, and outlived both her daughter and grandson. She became especially well known from the age of 113, when the centenary of Vincent van Gogh’s visit brought reporters to Arles. She entered the Guinness Book of Records in 1988, and on 17 October 1995 she became the oldest person ever, having surpassed the (now dubious) case of Shigechiyo Izumi of Japan. She became the last living documented person born in the 1870s when the Japanese supercentenarian Tane Ikai (born 1879) died on 12 July 1995; in total she outlived no fewer than 329 undisputedly verified supercentenarians. Her life span has been thoroughly documented by scientific study, with more records having been produced to verify her age than for any other case. She is the only person ever to be confirmed beyond any doubt to have reached 120 years of age
Top 10 Longest Songs in the World
Since the inception of the UK Singles Chart in 1952 there have been various records to break, including most chart toppers, longest run at number one, biggest selling single etc. All the records have changed hands over the years, some more than others and many have certain reasons as to why the records have been held by a certain act. Here are some of the longest song in the world:
10. Stairway to Heaven
There will certainly be many people doubting the credibility of any list of “Longest Songs” that isn’t headed up by “Stairway to Heaven”. There is such a weight of affection for Led Zeppelin’s 1971 epic, that it typically tops any such list. In fact, many music lovers would place “Stairway to Heaven” in their Top 10 of all time, and with good reason. Plus it was composed by a fellow Wolverhampton Wanderers fan, the great Robert Plant, so it would make it on to my list for this reason alone.
9. Bohemian Rhapsody
Managed to reach 18 years of age without ever hearing it before. Such was the impact that Queen’s bemusing anthem had. Surely the hallmark of a truly great song is its ability to halt you dead in your tracks. At just under 6 minutes long, “Bohemian Rhapsody” makes about as much sense as marshmallow shoes, but who cares?
8. Hotel California
Which came first – “Hotel California” or the jukebox? The jukebox was created before this stonker by The Eagles, but surely no song ever sounded so good blaring out of one. It is humanly impossible to hear this track without joining in with the famous chorus. Released in 1977, this allegorical masterpiece examines the glamour and excess of LA at the time, alluding to a darker, more sinister side to the so-called American Dream. Irrespective of the undertone, this is a great sing-along song.
7. Thriller
In truth, the pioneering music video for “Thriller” had a bigger impact on me than the song itself when it came out in 1982. Quincy Jones’s stunning production has got so much going on. It was always going to be tough to follow the legendary “Off the Wall” album, but Michael Jackson thrilled and amazed with this equally impressive offering. In 2009, we lost a true genius. RIP MJ.
6. Money for Nothing
The catalyst for buying the second album was “Money for Nothing” – a pioneer of MTV Europe and a genuine tour de force. It has one of the greatest build-ups in rock and roll, and when Mark Knopfler finally drops that guitar solo near the beginning, it gives me chills. “Money for Nothing” was the 1980s for me. No other track evokes so many memories of the time, and its video still looks fresh today.
5. Hey Jude
There isn’t a soul on the planet who would question its inclusion on this list. Thanks largely to its utterly infectious and elongated fade out (“na na na naaa – hey Jude”) in recent years it has become a staple of karaoke bars around the world. This has in no way diminished its importance and credibility though, and if Paul McCartney had written “Hey Jude” today, it would still have been light years ahead of its time. God knows what they made of it in 1968.
4. No Woman, No Cry
It says a lot about this track, and the artist that sang it, that the most popular version of it is recorded completely live. Bob Marley’s flawless rendition of “No Woman, No Cry” is one of the most heartfelt performances. Ably supported by The Wailers and some note-perfect female backing singers. So for a genre-crossing, behemoth of a long song, look no further.
3. To Be In Love
Lists of “Long Songs” usually comprise the seminal rock tracks that we’re all familiar with, and that’s fine. But it’s crucial not to ignore other important genres, and in my case the most important being house music. “Masters at Work” were precisely that. Pioneering exponents of the house scene in 1990s New York, they rose above basic DJ status to become world-beating music producers. “To Be In Love” showcases the beautiful vocal talents of “India”.
2. Champagne Supernova
A criticism often levelled at Oasis is that their music wasn’t really original. There was an argument that Noel Gallagher merely aped his musical heroes and contemporaries, but this argument fell flat on its face when “Champagne Supernova” was released in 1995. As with many of the great songs, its nonsensical lyrics defy explanation, since its writer was narcotically charged when it was conceived. So don’t analyse it, just enjoy it for the ground breaker that it is.
1. November Rain
No contest really. The other 9 entries on my list required very careful consideration in determining their eventual positioning, but the top spot was never in doubt. A confirmed Guns N’ Roses fan ever since the release of the seminal “Appetite for Destruction” album. Every straining word uttered by Axl, and every note beautifully crafted by Slash, brims with guts and emotion. Released in 1992, “November Rain” is 9 minutes of musical genius, backed-up by one of the great longest song music videos.
